Why Ride Mallorca With Us?

Mallorca is one of the most well-served cycling destinations in Europe — bike hotels, rental shops and café stops are everywhere. You could arrive and improvise. But the island rewards those who come with a plan.

The difference between a good Mallorca cycling week and an exceptional one comes down to sequencing. Knowing which direction to ride Sa Calobra so you descend first and climb out. Knowing which days the Tramuntana gets the best light. Knowing which roads carry tourist bus traffic in July and which remain genuinely quiet. That local knowledge is what shapes our itineraries — and what separates them from a generic week on a hire bike.

Every tour we plan for you includes:

  • Detailed self-guided itinerary with route notes and daily stage information

  • GPS tracks and a navigation app loaded before you leave

  • All accommodations booked, with breakfast included

  • Daily luggage transfer between hotels

  • Bike rental delivered straight to your first hotel

  • 24/7 support from our team throughout your trip

You ride. We handle everything else.

Best time to cycle in Mallorca

While Mallorca remains accessible for cyclists year round, here is how we would seperate the months:

  • February and March bring almond blossom and empty roads — the season professional teams favour for winter training camps.

  • April through June is the sweet spot for most cyclists: warm, dry and uncrowded.

  • October is equally excellent. July and August are perfectly rideable but the Tramuntana roads get busy and the heat demands early starts.

Three ascents define the island for every cyclist who visits:

  1. Sa Calobra — 10 km at 7% average, hairpin bends dropping to a turquoise cove at sea level. Descended first, then climbed out. One of the most beautiful cycling experiences in Europe.

  2. Cap de Formentor — the island's northernmost point, 20 km of coastal switchbacks ending at a lighthouse above the sea.

  3. Puig Major — Mallorca's highest point at 1,445 m, a long steady climb through the heart of the Tramuntana.

The mountain range that defines Mallorca cycling. A UNESCO World Heritage Site stretching 90 km along the northwest coast — limestone cliffs, Alpine-style hairpin roads and dramatic drops to the Mediterranean.

Almost every memorable cycling route on the island passes through or begins in the Tramuntana. The roads are immaculate, traffic is respectful, and the combination of mountain climbing and sea views is unlike anything available on the European mainland.

These are some of the main points why cyclists of all levels keep coming back to the island of Mallorca:

  • Road surfaces are exceptional throughout the island, particularly in the Tramuntana

  • Drivers are highly accustomed to cyclists — professional teams training here year-round have shaped local road culture

  • English is spoken widely in tourist areas and cycling hotels

  • Spain uses the euro; card payments accepted almost everywhere, including mountain cafés and village stops

Mallorca works for a wider range of cyclists than most people expect:

  • Experienced road cyclists — the Tramuntana climbs and full island circuits are among the finest in Europe

  • Intermediate riders — the central plains and eastern coast offer beautiful, manageable cycling with minimal climbing

  • Winter training riders — the February–April window is perfect for base miles in reliable sunshine

  • Cyclists combining sport with relaxation — every stage ends near a beach, a good restaurant or both

Mallorca connects naturally into a wider Spanish cycling trip. Direct flights link Palma to Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia in under an hour — making it straightforward to combine a Mallorca week with cycling in Spain or Tenerife.

Or if you prefer island cycling we can also offer our other Canary Islands destination, which shares Mallorca's winter training appeal and near year-round riding conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Mallorca's near year-round season is one of its greatest advantages over mainland European destinations.

  • February and March — almond blossom, empty roads and the window professional teams favour for winter training camps

  • April through June — the sweet spot for most cyclists: warm, dry and uncrowded

  • October — equally excellent, quieter than spring and the light on the Tramuntana is extraordinary

  • July and August — perfectly rideable but the mountain roads get busy and early starts are essential

Far from it — and this is one of the most common misconceptions about the island.

The Serra de Tramuntana and Sa Calobra attract serious road cyclists and professional teams, which shapes the island's reputation. But the central plains and eastern coastline offer beautiful, manageable cycling with minimal climbing that suits a much wider range of riders.

An e-bike opens up virtually every route on the island regardless of activity level — the same roads, the same scenery, without the climbing penalty.

Genuinely demanding — but structured in a way that helps.

Our itineraries approach Sa Calobra by descending first, then climbing out — which means you tackle the hardest section with fresh legs rather than at the end of a long day. The climb runs 10 km at a 7% average gradient, finishing at a turquoise cove at sea level.

Most regularly cycling riders complete it in 45–75 minutes. An e-bike makes it accessible to almost any activity level without losing any of the experience.

It depends on which part of the island you're riding.

  • Tramuntana and mountain routes — a road bike or e-road bike is the natural choice. Surfaces are immaculate and the climbing rewards a lighter setup

  • Central plains and coastal routes — a hybrid or trekking bike works comfortably

  • All routes — e-bikes are available and increasingly the most popular choice on the island

Yes — particularly for spring and October.

Mallorca attracts over 150,000 cycling tourists annually, and the best cycling hotels in the Tramuntana fill up months ahead during peak season. February through April and September through October are the periods where early booking makes the biggest practical difference.

If you're travelling in summer, accommodation is more available — but the best-positioned hotels for cycling still benefit from early reservation.

Yes — it's one of the primary reasons professional teams base themselves here.

The island averages mild temperatures year-round. February and March bring the almond blossom and the emptiest roads of the season — ideal for base miles in reliable sunshine when the rest of Europe is closed. For amateur cyclists who want warm winter riding without travelling far, Mallorca is the strongest option in our portfolio alongside Tenerife.

Fly into Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) — one of the busiest airports in Spain with direct connections from most European cities year-round. The airport sits just 11 km from Palma city centre and transfer times are short.

Most of our tours are based in or around Palma or the Tramuntana foothills — both straightforward to reach from the airport. Full arrival and transfer instructions are included with every booking.

Let us know upfront if you'd like a private transfer arranged.

Yes — and it connects naturally.

Direct flights link Palma to Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia in under an hour, making it straightforward to combine a Mallorca week with cycling in Spain.

Tenerife is the other natural pairing — both islands share year-round riding conditions and a professional cycling culture, but offer completely different terrain. Mallorca delivers coastal roads and the Tramuntana; Tenerife delivers altitude and volcanic climbing.

Discover Europe's finest cycling holidays and bike tours — iconic routes, stunning landscapes, and unforgettable adventures for every kind of rider.
